Australian current affairs host Tracy Grimshaw accepted an apology from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in a brief statement shown on her program.
Grimshaw said the snippet, shown at the end of an interview with Ramsay by another journalist on the show, was the last word she would say on the topic.
She said: “I didn’t think it [an apology] would help. But it has and I accept it. I believe it’s taken a lot for a guy of Gordon’s sort of personality to turn around from all that he’s said in the past few days and I appreciate it.”
Ramsay said his mother prompted the apology.
In the interview, the chef said: “First of all, you’ve shown me great respect and amazing support over the last three or four years and I’d just like to take this opportunity to apologise for the stupid comments, and am deeply mortified that the whole thing has gone this far. My apologies.”
