Doctor Who star David Tennant has said he uses his church minister dad as his acting coach.

The 38-year-old actor said he picked up tips from watching his dad Rev Sandy McDonald in the pulpit.

He said: “Clearly, there’s an element of performance in being a minister of the church and I’m sure I picked up some of that from watching my dad.

“He always talks about had he grown up in a different time, he could have seen himself going into acting. But it just really wasn’t an option in Glasgow back then.”
