Michael Sheen: Twilight role inspired by daughter

Michael Sheen: Twilight role inspired by daughterMichael Sheen has revealed how his daughter Lily persuaded him to join the cast of the new Twilight movie.

The Frost/Nixon star said that his 10-year-old daughter is a “diehard” fan of the series, and that it was her love of the Stephenie Meyer books that inspired him to take the role of head vampire, Aro, in New Moon.

The Welsh-born actor, who has played a werewolf in the Underworld movies, said: “I thought it would be exciting to play a vampire instead of a werewolf, go across to the other side of the tracks.”

Sheen, 40, added: “I’ve never played a character who delights in his own evil before.”

But he admitted that he is scared of disappointing the legions of devoted Twilight fans.

He said: “People have such passionate feelings about the books, as I know through my daughter – there’s nothing more terrifying in some ways than the passions of teenage girls.”
