Actress Robin Wright Penn has hit a crossroads in her life as her children prepare to leave the nest and her relationship with Sean Penn is apparently on hold.

“I hit that crossroad a while ago,” Wright Penn told a US magazine. “I know what I don’t want.”?

Penn and Wright Penn had filed for separation for a second time – only to reconcile in May.

She said: “I, we, have two amazing children we raised together.” She was referring to her daughter Dylan Frances, 18, who is headed off to college. Her son Hopper Jack, 16, is preparing to follow.

“At least twice a week, I pull over and sob. My baby is leaving. It’s an emotionally full time, but it’s not sad. I can’t wait for Dylan to go [out and] live. That’s what makes me cry.”

Wright Penn said she and Penn had a “peculiar chemistry”. What is ahead of them seems unclear. She told the magazine: “I’d been stagnant. I think I’ve always been waiting for things to happen. Now I’m like, ‘I’m okay – I know the direction, whoever’s on board can go with me.’”
